Family Portraits in the Smoky Mountains

Being a photographer I meet a lot of people, and I shoot a lot of people. I try not to use a gun, but that’s a whole other subject…

This family was a pleasure to photograph. Sometimes you just meet folks and you can see the strong family bond they have. Today was one of those. What a great family and what a fun session.

Notice all the leaves on the ground? It’s not fall, it’s the middle of the summer. The reason all those leaves are on the ground is the night before this session, actually just about the time the session was supposed to start, one of the biggest and strongest storm systems came right through this area blowing over trees, snapping telephone poles in half and more. It was really rough, and about 20 feet from where these guys are sitting there’s a huge pine tree broken off at the base and lying across our driveway. All the leaves are from the storm coming through and making a big mess. Dave and his family actually had to park down the hill and walk up (climbing under the tree) to get to the session, but we were so happy that we were able to pull the photo session off nobody cared.

Chris and Chester were hard at work chopping up the tree so people could pass, and by the end of the family portrait session the drive was clear and everyone could come and go.

Why do I tell you all this? Because we, as professional photographers in the Smoky Mountains, do everything we can to make sure our clients get the images they want. If they couldn’t get to us, we would have taken a hike, hopped a ride and come to them. Our clients trust us with their most precious family memories being captured by the camera. That’s our job. Chris’ job is to clean up the mess. Sorry Chris, and thanks! We couldn’t do it without you.
