Gatlinburg Wedding Photographer » RIK Photography is your best choice for modern artistic and creative wedding photography in Gatlinburg and the TN Smoky Mountains.

Here are some highlights from Alli and James’ Wedding Day.  This great couple along with their friends and family were a pleasure to work with and we really appreciate them choosing us as their wedding photographers.  Congratulations to James and Alli, and we wish them the very best their new life together has to offer.

Fall is the most beautiful time of the year here in the Smoky Mountains, or at least one of the most beautiful.  The autumn leaves turn brilliant colors and it’s the ideal time of year for a Gatlinburg Wedding.  Whether it’s actually in the city of Gatlinburg or the surrounding area like Pigeon Forge, Sevierville or even in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, it’s just a gorgeous colorful setting for outdoor weddings.  That’s why James and Alli wanted to be married here.

The ceremony and reception were at Bluff Mountain Inn in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.  Their wedding day was just beautiful with perfect weather for a fall Tennessee Wedding in the mountains.

Bluff Mountain Inn offers all inclusive weddings and receptions for parties of 2 to 200+.  The beautiful five acre estate has so many options;  barn, chapel, gardens, several outdoor ceremony sites, catered receptions with dancing under the stars.  It’s just an incredible facility and we love to shoot there.  The people are awesome to work with and it’s just an incredible place…

What is a bridal portrait?  Well, it can be a formal portrait in a studio with exquisite lighting, or it could be taken in a church or synagogue,  or it’s always fun to get out into nature and find just the right setting.  Today I thought a waterfall might be nice.

Living in the Smoky Mountains, with so much natural beauty surrounding us, it’s easy to drive by gorgeous spots and really never notice them.  That’s why we take long drives in search of unique photo spots, and this was one of those great finds! (not that you could ever spot it from inside a car….)

Just to let you know, getting to these spots can be a bit tricky.  For this particular shot Mary, our Extreme Model, and 2 photographers scaled down the side of a pretty steep embankment to get to a place where we could get the shot.  Mary had her dress in a backpack along with the veil and flowers.  We tied a rope to a pillar at the top of the embankment to make sure we could steady ourselves on the way down and have a way to pull ourselves back up.

Nevertheless, we made the trip to get to the spot to get the fantastic shot.  It’s just part of who we are and what we do as artistic photographers in the Smoky Mountains!

Here’s another shot of Mary taken from a much more reasonable and easily accessed spot.  Not quite as dramatic, but it also didn’t require repelling.

If you’re considering having a bridal portrait in the mountains made, the best thing to do is give us a call or make an appointment to discuss the options.  Tell us about your comfort levels, tell us about you and what type of portrait you’d like.  Ultimately this is a moment in time that showcases you, your dress and a glimpse of who you are by the choice of the surroundings you’ve chosen for your portrait.  This will become a family heirloom, and if taken in the right time frame, could be a gorgeous framed print or canvas to show off at your wedding!
