Gatlinburg Wedding Photographer » RIK Photography is your best choice for modern artistic and creative wedding photography in Gatlinburg and the TN Smoky Mountains.

Have I ever mentioned that photography is fun??? Well if not, let’s just make that statement for the record.

You get to play with some of the coolest gadgets, you constantly are looking for light and shadows and figuring out how to use them to your best advantage, and you get to have some really nice (and nice looking) people pose for you, or invade their privacy, and share the spirit of the moment.

If you don’t have a camera, I suggest you run right out and buy one. It could change your life. My Dad gave me one when I was about six… haven’t been without one since.

So when Jessica and Bret came over for their wedding celebration, what did we do???

We shot photos all day! And we had fun!!! What a great bunch of folks to photograph. Thanks for playing!

We have all sorts of cool lights that we use in doing what we do, but sometimes nothing beats the light that comes in the window.

And when I said, “are you ladies up for rolling around on the floor?”… “Sure!!!”

OK, before you get any ideas; it’s a non smoking room. But there’s a huge smoking area just outside the door… one of the largest in the world!

So Amanda and I were all set up for indoor portraits because it was getting dark. Then she says, “did you see that cool purple sky?” That’s all it took. Relocate fast before we lose it!

Speaking of Amanda… now where else could you go to find an excellent photographer who also makes Awesome Cakes? She makes all of our wedding cakes here during the week, as well as some of the office duties, giving tours… it’s just amazing all the things she’s good at.

Anyway, being one of the few people in the world who hasn’t seen the movie Steel Magnolias, I’m not exactly sure what the connection is about the Armadillo Cake. All I know is that Bret requested one, Amanda made the thing, and the first slice came out of the back side…

I don’t know if he paid them before or after…

We can safely say a good time was has by all! Thanks for coming to Bluff Mountain Inn, and have a great life together! We hope you’ll enjoy these photos and memories for many years to come.

Not much going on today… just enjoying the view and thought we’d share.

P.S. I’ve added a few since the first post… see below.

The following morning there was some great light. This time of year we get to see some mountains that are usually hidden by the trees.
I loved the look of the sun sparkling in the icicles…

Betsy just back from a snow bunny hunt. Talk about a cold nose!
